LB 4

The song I chose for listening blog 4 was “caravan” by duke ellington, and oh my, this is the most stereotypical American music I’ve ever heard. This song feels exactly like a song you’d hear in the background of a pub in an old movie. Just good music with good instruments, I enjoyed my listenings to the song, it’s great to listen to while working on other assignments.  And for that reason, I do suggest giving it a listen, The band that played the song has immense talent, due to it being very similar to jazz, it manages to blend all the improv instruments together to create a remarkable rythm, this is a great song from a composing stand point, all the instruments bounce off each other and blend together extremely well. For my “feelings” on the song, there isn’t a lot, and I think that’s a food thing. This song does not come across as one you’d listen to in your bed at night with tears in your eyes. this is a song that’s secure in its environment, that being bars and restaurants. The song doesn’t set out to move you since that’s not the point of its creation. It’s not the reason you’d want to listen, you’d listen to this song when you want to groove, or just have background music on while you work. And for that reason, the song is perfect, as it nails that feeling beautifully.

  1. I usually don't like improve songs but I did like this one! It just sounds better in every way compared to the few other improvised songs I have listened to while taking this class. I really is a good song to listen to while doing other things that's why I am listening to it right now lol
