LB 9

Listening blog 9! I repeat! We are on listening blog 9! Holy cow man. Time is going by at break neck speed. Crazy. Alright anyway: for listening blog 9 I decided to choose the song “I shot the sheriff”, Eric Chaptone’s cover. Although I must say. I don’t think the title of this song is being truthful. They may have shot the sheriff. But this damn song WILL NOT STOP REPEATING HOW HE DIDN’T SHOOT THE DEPUTY!! Good grief man. You know how hard it is to analyze the deep philosophical implications of literally 3 lines repeating over and over again and having to listen to it 3 times ?! By halfway through the first time listening I had it memorized. Holy cos. I will say though: the guitar playing is absolutely solid and is by far my favorite part of the song. If there was a genre specifically for this specific guitar playing. Then I like this genre. Do I recommend this song? I mean… maybe? You’ll learn quickly that the singer did not in fact in shoot a deputy, that’s for sure. Honestly it’s a fun song. I never want to hear it again after listening to the same line repeat again and again and again and again. But ey. The first minute isn’t bad! And that guitar. Oh man. Talented.

  1. Okay, so the lyrics aren't the most interesting out there. There wasn't much going on with that aspect. But musically, this song slaps. Like you said, the guitar playing is killer. It was very impressed. I thought it was good all around. I don't envy you for having to listen to it three times, though.

  2. I really liked your analysis of this song! I agree this song is very very repetitive and gets a little boring after a while. I do agree that the guitar is really good though. I think this song is definitely more enjoyable if you don't listen to it three times in a row.

  3. I love the description and enthusiasm that you put into your post. I can almost feel how pissed you are that they only have the same 3 freaking lines for the whole song.
