Alright, listening blog 8, for listening blog 8 I decided to do the song “Hotel California” - Eagles, simply for the reason that I’m from California myself! So I’ve heard this song countless of times. Hotel California is a special song. It’s quite unique and does not follow a typical popular song’s formula. It’s slow, melancholy, a song you would sit down and listen to deeply. Quite the anomaly from the songs of this time period. To go over some of the actual song’s features. It is primarily led by the lead singer and a soft guitar accompanying him. Before expanding to more guitars during the later parts of the song. I really like hotel California. It’s unique and the way the singer and lead guitar completely blends together is truly a special thing to witness. It’s a song about my home state and the message it’s describing is a famous one, there’s many ways to interpret the song, whether the song is about people moving to California, finding it paradise, the song being about drugs, or the interpretations don’t stop. It’s truly the black sheep of week’s 8 song choices. But I love it for that. I believe I’ve made a great choice this week.
I also chose to listen to Hotel California this week. I think we feel the same way about this song. I also think this song is unique and different from other songs during its era. I liked how you described different ways you could interpret this song. It really is not an easy song to understand, and it doesn't give a clear message. I was a little unsure about what this song was really about, so your blog post helped me a lot. Great job!
ReplyDeleteI love this song! This is a good song but it has an interesting message! Its really interesting to grow up with these songs and as you are a kid make up a new meaning for the song! When you are older you soon realize that what you thought the song meant was nothing like you imagine. Overall a really good song!
